Manuscript on parchment in Anglicana (Scribes 1 and 2) and Secretary script (Scribe 3). The text is the third recension of the Confessio Amantis, written in 1392-1393.The manuscript was produced around 1400 or the beginning of the fifteenth century in the same manner as the other surviving manuscripts from this time, presumably under the author's supervision and Also contained are the Latin and French poems "Explicit iste liber," "Epistola super huius," "Quam cinxere," "Traitie," "Carmen de variis in amore passionibus," and "Carmen super multiplici viciorum pestilencia."

Books II (f. 13r), V (76r), VI (125r), VII (140r), and VIII (175v) contain initials with full page demi-vignette borders in gold, red, blue, green, orange, and brown., Rubrications at running titles, initials, Latin commentary., Binding: yellow morocco on wooden boards, by Douglas Cockerell and Son, 1962., and Sir George Meyrick, Bart., who sold the manuscript after his father's death in 1960, said that the manuscript had been in his family's possession for over 100 years and that in 1775 the house was almost destroyed by fire. Many family papers were lost and perhaps it was then that the manuscript became damp and mildewed.

Art. 3: Copied by a single hand in early Northern Gothica Textualis Libraria., Art. 1: The decoration consists of Romanesque flourished (in one or two colours) or plain initials (2 lines, on f. 1r 4 lines), alternately in red and green. Guide-letters in the margins. On f. 55r, at the beginning of the history of Merlin, a male bust is drawn in the margin., and Binding: Original white leather over rounded oak boards; spine with four raised bands. Marks of one strap fixed to the front cover and clutching over a pin in the rear cover. The front pastedown (detached) consists of fragments of a court roll (from a trial of 1334), identified by N.R. Ker (note kept in the documentary folder in the Beinecke Library) and copied in Gothica Cursiva Antiquior (Anglicana).

In French., Script: Copied by one hand in a rather uneven Northern Gothica Textualis Libraria, marked by many fusions., The opening letters of all verses are heightened in red; in art. 1 the first verse of each quatrain except the first one opens with a 1-line plain red initial. Art. 1 opens with a 3-line plain red initial, art. 2 with a 2-line one. All initials are executed over guide-letters., The codex is badly trimmed, causing the loss of letters at the end of verses., and Binding: Nineteenth century. Half brown leather over pasteboard, the boards covered with red paper. On the spine a black leather label with the gold-tooled title "CODICILLE / I. Many of Louisa Siefert's letters to her sister describe her own ailing health and advancing tuberculosis, and her doctors' advice. Letters to Siefert's mother also describe the dinners Siefert attends; visits with acquaintances, including Victor Hugo, Charles Blanc, and Paul Chenevard; and operas she sees. Other correspondents in the collection include Siefert's friends such as Charles Asselineau, Chenevard, and Emmanuel des Essarts; admirers of her poetry; the Journal de Lyon concerning her publications; and family members to each other after her death. Her first book of poems, Rayons perdus, was published in 1868 to great acclaim; other collections published during her lifetime include L'Année républicaine (1869); Les Stoïques (1870); Les Saintes Colères (1871); and Comédies romanesques (1872); as well as a novel, Méline (1875). Through her friendship with Charles Asselineau, she became well acquainted with other literary and artistic figures, including Victor Hugo, Emile Deschamps, Charles Baudelaire, and Paul Chenavard. In 1876, she married Jocelyn Pene, secretary to Emilio Castelar; a year later, she died of tuberculosis in Pau, France. After her death, her mother published Souvenirs, Poésies inédites. and In French.
