Abstract:
Heading to a printed broadside in support of Queen Caroline, with a depiction of the Queen in the upper left, riding in a chariot pulled by a lion under a banner reading "Innocence and Triumph." The Italian witnesses against her are being led in chains to the gallows, the man at the back of the line remaking "This is past a joke O! Majocc"; a hangman smoking a pipe awaits them at the top of a ladder, noose in hand. Three figures with bags over their heads are already hanging, with a fourth hanged figure being fed by a devil with a pitchfork into the flaming mouth of a demon on the right, a "Green Bag" falling into the flames next to him. Another victim is skewered by a second devil standing inside the demon's mouth; the words "Milan Commission Receiving Office" are written amid the flames. A John Bull figure with a walking stick watches the scene from the right, remarking: "Well now if this h'ant a sight that pleases John Bull - Go & be hang'd to ye you Italian scoundels - come to swear an innocent womans life away." In the center foreground, a dog tears at a second "Green Bag" with its mouth

"Four grotesque men, all crippled or deformed, are in a row before a set of druggist's shelves headed 'Staats Apotheek'. Those on the extreme left and right stand, the others sit. A knock-kneed hunchback (left), smoking a long pipe, the smoke inscribed 'Hellebr . . .', holds a paper: 'Recipe'. A ragged and lame National Guard picks the pocket of his neighbour. Above the shelves, and forming the apex of the design, a fury, Discord, with snaky locks, leans from clouds, holding a flaming sword and looking down threateningly at the conference. On the top shelf are a 'Guillotine' and a bull, 'Phalaris', a block inscribed 'Menschen lief de' next a gallows, a demon. Below are bottles: 'Quint Ess: de Robespierr, Sel de Marat, Recipes en Assignaten [see British Museum Satires No. 8849], Rotten gift [poison for mice], Alb: Graec:' On the wall hang a sword and shackles. Abstract:
"Leach (right), the Vice-Chancellor, dressed as a woman, with a trimmed bonnet over his wig, sits on a corded chest inscribed Commissio[n] ; against this leans a book: Justifia et honor. He grasps a moneybag inscribed 10,000, and holds the ear of a fox which crouches against his knee. He faces John Bull who is stripped to the waist, with a gigantic leech on his back. John, a countryman in patched breeches, registers angry terror and pain; he looks over his shoulder, exclaiming: "D--me what a monstrous Leech! it not only sucks blood but honor also!" Leach says: "I am not plain, Leech, Sir, but by vulgar denomination--I am called Miss Leech if you please--." Beside J. B., and pointing menacingly towards him, are the muzzle of a cannon, a sheaf of bayonets in a chest inscribed 'G R' and 'Steel Lozenges' [see British Museum Satires No. 13513]. Against this lie shackles inscribed 'Bandages', and cannon-balls inscribed 'Bolus' and 'Iron Pills'. On a hill behind a large cap of 'Liberty' dangles from a gibbet against which leans a ladder. Leach's fox turns its head towards John, saying: "In Law. what plea so tained [sic] and corrupt, But, being season'd with a gracious voice, Observes the evil? There is no Vice so simple, but assumes Some mark of virtue on his outward parts Shak Mer of Ven--Act 3 Scene 2." Behind Leach, and on the extreme right, is a second chest inscribed 'French and Italian Monkey[s]'.
