Fox (left), facing the inscribed end of the tomb, lifts the covering slab with both hands; the head of a skeleton looks out, holding out a crown in one hand, the other grasps the edge of the tomb and a cere-cloth inscribed 'Patronage'. Sheridan (right) stands in back view blowing a trumpet from which issues a scroll inscribed 'it was opposed by a sencless Yell'; on the banner of the trumpet are the words 'Compare the two'. Powys stands behind the tomb, leaning forward and blowing a trumpet, from which issues a scroll inscribed 'a bold Measure characteristic of the Movers Mind'. Division I, political and personal satires, v. 6. The slight differences in text include the addition of an apostrophe in "Opposition's" in title and the abbreviation "Pubd." instead of "Pub." at beginning of imprint statement. The two versions are nearly identical in their design, differing only slightly in the details of the image and in the text within the image., and Lewis Walpole Library: Horace Walpole refers to subject.
