"A game of cards at a round table in which Lord Jersey (left) and Mrs. Fitzherbert (right) face each other in profile. Lady Jersey sits full-face, her head turned in profile towards her husband and lover: the Prince has left his place (indicated by a stool decorated with his feathers) as Lady Jersey's partner to stand behind Lord Jersey, his hands resting on his head, forefingers raised to form horns as in BMSats 8809, 8811. Lady Jersey has taken seven tricks; her husband has laid on the table before him the ace and three court cards. All the players raise their hands in surprise. The Prince wears his Light Horse uniform (cf. BMSat 8800), his eyes being concealed by his helmet as in BMSat 8811. Lady Jersey wears three tall feathers in her hair, a locket inscribed 'J' hangs from her neck. The fatness of the Prince and Mrs. Fitzherbert contrasts with the leanness of the other two. Behind her (right) are four little boys, two with bags of books slung from the shoulder. The schoolmaster, who wears night-cap, slippers, and buttoned overcoat or dressing-gown, says: "Good woman you are always making complaints against my Scholars, what have they done to offend you now?" She answers: "Please your Honors Worship they followd me up and down--and said one to another--At her!--beat her! damn her!--pelt her!-- and a great deal more that I do not recollect". "William V of Orange, a naked fat Cupid, lies on his back asleep on a low plateau of grass sprinkled with flowers. He clasps a spade in his folded hands; his shoulders rest against two large money-bags, padlocked and inscribed '24,000,000 Ducats'. He has been planting orange-trees, and these surround him, of varying sizes, in pots and in tubs; the oranges are the heads of infants, all with his own features. Dream-figures float towards him on clouds, all women in an advanced state of pregnancy. Behind him (left) floats a milk-woman, her yoke across her shoulders, her pail on her head. Next advances, full-face, a fat Billingsgate woman, her basket of fish on her head. These two appear to be shouting at the sleeping Cupid. "Lord Lonsdale with the head of a wolf sits in his carriage, from which the horses have been taken, and is drawn (left to right) by men past a row of two-storied cottages which are falling to pieces. He wears an earl's coronet, and a military coat with a shirt frill; from his rapacious mouth issue the words 'Dear Gentlemen this is too much, now you really distress me'. A large earl's coronet is on the carriage door. A hind wheel rolls over an open book, 'Peter Pindar'. A stout fierce-looking man wearing a legal wig sits on the box, raising a whip whose lashes are three scrolls inscribed (in legal blackletter), 'Littledale versus Lonsdale', 'Indemnifications', and 'Sham Trials'. He holds a bunch of reins attached to the necks of the men dragging the carriage, on whose faces are fixed, propitiatory grins. From his pockets issue a volume inscribed 'Blackstone', and a paper: 'Bills unpaid'; he is Lonsdale's 'clerk and attorney', see BMSat 8156. Two of the men whom he drives say: "No Ropes equal to mine, at a dead pull and A glorious night for my Brewery". Another man is in rags. In front of the procession and on the extreme right walk two couples holding hands. These carry three banners, inscribed: 'The good Samaritan', 'The Lion The Lamb', and: 'The Blues are bound in Adamantine Chains But Freedom round each Yellow Mansion reigns.' One of the men says slyly to the woman he walks with: 'And makes the Farmers Wives & Daughters Game' This is a quotation from Peter Pindar's 'Commiserating Epistle to Lord Lonsdale', see BMSat 8003. The context is: 'Yet why should Hares, and Partridges, and Grouse, Alone be ravish'd from the Farmer's house ? - Go, Lonsdale, get an Act to raise thy fame, And make . . .' Behind the carriage (left) is a cheering crowd; they wave their hats frantically shouting, "Liberty, Huzza, Huzza." The man in the foreground is a sailor with a bludgeon. Beside him sits Fox, as Loader, a handkerchief in his right hand, his left pointing upwards. North says, "Ay I am agoing; a wasting and a wasting - what will become of the House when I am gone Heaven knows - No - When people are Missed then theyre Mourn'd - Sixteen years have I lived in St Stephens Chaple comfortably and creditably; and tho I say it, could have got bail any hour of the day! no knock me down doings in my house, a set of regular sedate sober Customers - no rioters - Sixteen did I say - Ay, eighteen years have I paid Scott and Lot - and during the whole time nobody have said Mrs North Why do you so? unless twice that I was threatned with impeachment and three times with a Halter!" Fox says, "May I lose deal, with an honour at bottom, if Old Moll does not bring tears in my Eyes." Mother Cole wears a hood and loose gown over her petticoat, her shoes are slashed to ease her bulging feet. By her side is a bottle labelled 'Constitution Cordial'. Clavering, in regimentals, his cocked hat poised absurdly on the top of his head, stands glaring angrily at Mrs. Clarke; he says: I intend to commence an Action against her for obtaining Mony under false pretences in the case of French's Levy -- I'll teach her to send Gentlemen to Newgate. Wardle, in civilian dress, answers: Leave her to me Ill touch her up in the Furniture Business. Mrs. Clarke says: I dont care a fig for any of you -- and as to you Mr Furniture Monger [Wardle]--ll be before hand with you. Wright, the upholsterer, stands behind her (right); he looks to the left scowling, and says: Thats a good girl follow him up--ll back you Ill let him know who's Wright and whose Wrong. "Pitt (l.) and Napoleon face each other at a round dinner-table on which, in a dish, is a terrestrial globe in the form of a steaming plum-pudding. Pitt, with a carving knife, and three-pronged fork (like a trident) planted in the '[Atlantic] Ocean', cuts a deep gash to the west of 'Britain', extending from the Pole to the Equator; he obtains the 'West Indies'. Napoleon, using his sword and a two-pronged fork which straddles 'Hanover', is cutting from Europe a large fragment including 'France', 'Holland', 'Spain', 'Swiss[erland]', 'Italy', 'Mediterranean', but missing 'Sweden' and 'Russia'. Before each is an empty (gold) plate, on Pitt's the Royal Arms, on Napoleon's an imperial crown. On the back of Pitt's chair is a crowned British Lion on its hind-legs, holding up a Union flag; a fierce imperial eagle clutching a bonnet rouge decorates that of Napoleon. Pitt, very tall and thin, wears a cocked hat and regimentals and long pigtail (cf. BMSat 10113, &c). Napoleon, sturdier and much shorter, has almost to rise from his chair to reach the pudding. He wears military dress, a huge plumed bicorne resting on his shoulders. Pitt looks warily at Napoleon who stares fiercely at the pudding. The figures are seven-eighths length. Below the title: '- "the great Globe itself, and all which it inherit" [sic, 'Tempest', iv. i], is too small to satisfy such insatiable appetites - Vide Mr W-d-m's [Windham's] eccentricities, in ye Political Register.'
