- Description:
- In Middle English., Script: Written by a single scribe in a somewhat rough textura., The genealogical diagrams, which are fitted into the empty spaces between the columns of text, begin with a roundel formed of concentric bands of blue, gold and red with a miniature of Adam with Eve, who is being handed an apple by the serpent. From the roundel of Adam and Eve to the Ascension of Christ the successive Biblical names, framed in orange or green squares, are linked by a continuous band in blue, red and gold. The names of the ancestors of the Kings of England, starting with Brutus, appear in red or blue circles, surmounted by gold crowns. Other names are in plain red circles. Linking lines in the genealogies are in red or green. At the appropriate places in the text are inserted schematized diagrams in red and green ink of Noah's Ark, a plan of the Israelite camp in the desert and a plan of the city of Jerusalem., One large illuminated initial for the prologue, 8-line, mauve and blue with white filigree against gold ground thinly edged in black. The initial is filled with a large flower, red, yellow and green, and curling acanthus, orange and green extending into the margin and continued as black inkspray with large leaves, heart-shaped or acanthus, blue, pink, orange, white and green with white filigree, a large orange and gold flower, smaller leaves in gold with blue and pink, gold dots and small green leaves, extending into the upper and left margin to form a partial border. Smaller illuminated initial for the beginning of the main chronicle, 5-line, gold on blue and mauve ground with white filigree. Numerous small initials, 2-line, alternate in gold with blue penwork and blue with red. Paragraph marks alternate in red and blue., and Binding: Unbound.

- Autograph manuscript, signed, of a highly decorated and illustrated genealogy of the rulers of England from Egbert of Wessex to Queen Elizabeth I. The genealogical trees are illustrated with coats of arms, in full color, as well as marriage symbols and other decorations. Pages 13-14 and 33-34 are parchment rather than paper and contain an abbreviated and stylized family tree for Elizabeth I; color illustrations of an angelic figure with a trumpet and an armored knight; and a full-color chart with the white and red roses of York and Lancaster as the central roundel containing the name of Elizabeth I. The charts are followed by "Briefe observations of the disposition, of everie severall kynge of England from William the Conqueror untill this present 1592." - In French., Script: Written in batarde script by a single scribe., Text is accompanied by parallel schematic genealogical diagrams in red consisting of connected roundels inscribed with the names of various rulers in succession, between the columns. The genealogical diagrams are periodically interspersed with 58 roundels framed in red with lively pen drawings in brown ink with washes in blue, pink and green, depicting cities and churches whose foundations are ascribed to particular rulers or occurred during their reigns. Each of the genealogical diagrams begins at the top of the text with a roundel, depicting respectively (I) Mount Calvary, (II) Rome, (III) Venice (whose foundation is ascribed to Trojan nobles) and (IV) London. Included are drawings of Constantinople, Hagia Sophia, Santiago de Compostela; the majority of the drawings appear in the chronology of the French monarchs, with depictions of Paris, St. Genevieve, St. Denis, St. Martin-de-Champs, and others. The buildings are all late medieval in character and do not bear resemblance to the monuments themselves., Four illuminated initials, 4-line, at the top of each column, blue with white filigree against gold ground with stylized foliage or geometric patterns in red and blue. At the top of each initial, black inkspray with gold leaves; at the first initial (left column), decoration extends into the left margin to form a partial border. Numerous smaller initials, 2-line, gold on blue and mauve grounds with white filigree. Headings in red., Binding: Unbound., and Art. 3 also known as "A tous nobles."
