In Latin., Watermark: flower (?)., Art. 1 is copied in a rapid Humanistica Cursiva Libraria. Art. 2, by another hand, is in Humanistica Textualis Formata., Art. 1 is undecorated. Art. 2 opens with a 3-line plain initial in red and blue, followed by a line in Capitals. In the lower margin of f. 5r a coat of arms gules, with a head (?) azure and a heart-shield gold. Initial and coat of arms, of mediocre execution, are by the same hand., and Binding: Nineteenth century. De luxe binding by Chambolle-Duru. Brown morocco over pasteboard, the turn-ins gold-tooled; marbled endpapers. Spine with five raised bands and gold-tooled inscription: "AENEAS / SYLVIUS / DE / MISERIIS / CURIALIUM". Gilt edges.

In Latin., Script: Each of the 13 sections written by a different scribe, usually in a cursive hand. Format and decoration differs from section to section. Rubrication throughout., Stains throughout suggest that the sections were once bound separately., and Binding: Sixteenth century. There are vellum stays from a 15th-century humanistic manuscript in the center of the quires. Original sewing on three double, twisted, vegetable fiber cords laced into square wooden boards. Plain wound endbands, also laced, and covered with the covering leather which is back-stitched around them. Covered in brown leather with corner tongues, blind-tooled with six-petalled flowers at the intersections of diamonds within a linear border. Brass clasp-and-catch fastening, the catch on the upper board. Rebacked, clasp and strap wanting.

In Latin., Script: copied by a single hand writing a small Gothica Hybrida Libraria/Currens under Humanistic influence. Heading in pale brown ink. Opening word in capitals and marginal captions in pale red ink. 3-line pale red initial on f. 1r., The present manuscript was probably copied soon after the oration was held at the council of Mantua in 1459. The Pope had requested the help of the Christian rulers for a crusade against the Turks. The King of France Charles VII refused his support unless the Pope would favour the candidature of René of Anjou to the throne of Naples and Sicily against the pretensions of Ferdinand I of Aragon. In the present oration, the Pope explains why he regrets to deny René's claim and supports Ferdinand., and Binding: 20th century: plain parchment over pasteboard.
