Titles include A reflection on death; On the death of a mother; Written in consequence of the execution of a young man for forgery, by Mrs. Taylor; Hymn by Miss Scott; To a lady who sung in too low a voice; On kissing; On female neatness after marriage; Advice to a young lady lately married; Unbeliever's creed; Sir Isaac Newton's creed; and numerous humorous epigrams and epitaphs. Several anonymous poems are labeled "Forton Prison" and dated 1795; the collection also includes poems by Tobias Smollett, Samuel Bishop, Samuel Rogers, Samuel Butler, and William Cowper

Also included is one letter from Henry Hallam to his mother, Eleanor Roberts Hallam. Third party correspondence includes letters from George Frere to Julia Elton Hallam and Alfred Lord Tennyson to Julia Maria Frances Hallam Lennard. Writings contain one volume of dramatic dialogues and one volume of poems in Arthur Henry Hallam's hand, and one volume of his poems and one entitled "Verses addressed to Ellen on her birthday," both in the hand of Henry Hallam's daughter, Ellen Hallam. Also included are two holograph essays by an unidentified author entitled "Is Blakesley in Advance of His Age?" and "University Reform."
