At her feet lies the decapitated figure of Justice. Approaching her from the left are Stanhope carrying a model of the House of Lords, a crown, sceptre and the Holy Bible. Following him is Sheridan carrying a model of the Bank of England and Fox who carries a model of India House and the royal arms. The British lion walks in the opposite direction away from the arms. Next, Whitbread hauls three barrels labelled "Whitbreads intire", the Duke of Bedford a promisary note, and finally Erskine carries a pile of books labelled "Treason / Law of / Libel / Misprisons of ..."

"Dumouriez, followed by a tall and ragged sansculotte, marches aggressively towards a low barricade (left), behind which are frog-soldiers presenting their bayonets at the invaders. Dumouriez, foppishly dressed in regimentals, but with bare legs, his shirt confined by a sash, holds against his shoulder an enormous seal. He says, holding out his right hand, "Monsr Orange, I will seal up your Papers, & take care of your Cash". From his pocket hangs a scroll: 'New Laws for Holland Prepar'd by the Convention'. At the center of the sheet stands John Bull, hands clasped in prayer, as Sheridan and Fox force the bread of liberty into his wide open mouth as they pick his pocket. On either side of the three stands a gallows and the Temple Bar. In each of the four corners in similar scenes, labelled clockwise from upper left, Holland, Savoy, German & Prussia, red-capped French sansculottes try to force the bread of liberty down recognizable national stereotypes from these four nations as they loot the terrfied citizens

Abstract:
A large naked monster sits astride a large cup, which is balanced on a dagger held in the mouth of a small sansculotte juggler who exclaims, " By Gar tis var heavy, O dear! O dear! It will fall!" The monster holds in his hands the heads of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. On his head five daggers meet at a point to form a cap labelled "Cap of Liberty." He grins showing sharp teeth, two labels issuing from his mouth, " Ca ira, ca ira, ca ira" and "Hold me well up or I will bit off your head."

"Custine stands on the scaffold beside the guillotine (left). Four ragged ruffians are about to bind him to the plank on which he is to lie; one says, "By Gar so we will serve all de Generals who do not conquer de whole World, and give them de Libertè". Custine says, "Pardon me Heaven for having been leagued with such a set of Blood hounds". A stout soldier pushes a weeping priest, who says "Let us Pray", down the steps (right) which lead up to the scaffold, saying, "Go to de diable & Your Prayers both". A thin, ragged group of sansculottes sit on corpses around a table and feast on a decapitated head; behind them and above them are piles of body parts. An old woman squats before a fire basting the body of child that has been lashed to a spit. Three small children sit on the floor before a tub filled with entrails. On the wall above the fireplace is a stick figure labelled 'Petion' ; he holds an axe in one hand and a decapitated head in the other. To the sideis another drawing of a headless man labelled "Lewis le Grand."
