The text of Vergil is accompanied on ff. 1r-5v by marginal and interlinear glosses, the greater portion of which are derived from or an adaptation of Servius. The commentary does, however, include notes (some in Greek) independent of Servius

In Latin., Script: Part I (ff. 1-6): Written in humanistic cursive by a single scribe; apparently added later to replace lost leaves. Part II (ff. 7-57): Written in fere-humanistic script by one scribe. Spaces left for initials. A large gap in the text occurs between Parts II and III (6.587 to 7.744). Part III (ff. 58-112): Written by a single scribe in a script similar to that in Part II., Spaces left for initials., Many pages unattached due to the brittle binding., and Binding: 16th-17th centuries (?). Sewn on three slit leather straps. There is no indication of an earlier sewing, but the book was extensively mended before it was sewn. Tawed cores of plain wound endbands laid in grooves. Beech boards with rectangular channels on the outside in which the straps are nailed. The spine is lined with brown leather and the book covered in dark brown sheepskin faintly blind-tooled with a central diamond made up of arches with small ornaments scattered in and around it. Tongue turn-ins. There are two catches on the lower board and traces of red and cream silk ribbons nailed to the upper one with star-headed nails. The title is painted in red on the spine.

In Latin., Script: Written in batarde, with scholia in a smaller version of the same hand., One miniature, 12-line, f. 74v, a T-O mappa mundi, in a red and gold frame, slightly waterstained at the edges. One 4-line initial, f. 3r (pink), and one 3-line initial, f. 57r (blue), both with white highlights, filled with red and blue ivy on gold against a gold ground. Twenty 2-line initials, gold, filled with pink and blue against pink and/or blue grounds, square or irregular, with white filigree. Capitals stroked in yellow, red or blue between ff. 1r and 26v; in yellow for the remainder of the text. Borders were perhaps added later (between 1425 and 1450) on folios with initials only; between ff. 1r and 57r, flowering vines, gold, green and blue with gold dots in lines above, below or in written space; blue and gold acanthus mixed with flowering vines, red, pink, blue, and green with gold ivy in line above written space and in inner margin within rulings for scholia; on a few folios, outer vertical bounding line reinforced in red with small acanthus terminals. Between ff. 57v and 162v pink, blue and/or green acanthus, with flowering vines, pink, blue and green, with gold ivy and dots, disposed as above; on f. 85v vertical bounding line repainted as a green stem with lopped off stalks. In Latin., Script: Copied by two hands in Praegothica: A copied art. 1, B copied artt. 2-3., A 5-line plain Romanesque initial in green at the beginning of art. 1 and a 2-line plain initial in blue on f. 1rb, both with a guide-letter in the margin. Space reserved for a 3- or 4-line initial on f. 3vb at the opening of chapter 49 (see art. 2). Two musical diagrams in pen and ink (see art. 2)., Ff. 2r-3v: due to the severe damage to the inner lower part of the leaves, four large sections of text are missing, including part of the triangular diagram of musical proportions on f. 2v. On f. 4, losses of text due to the defective state of the inner margin and several holes in the parchment., and With the fragments are kept the modern paper flyleaves, one cardboard board and some minor fragments of a binding of considerable dimensions (flyleaves 340 x 215 mm.). In Latin., Watermarks: similar to Briquet Tour 15909 and Piccard Turm II.617., Script: Written in gothic cursive with humanistic features by a single scribe, above top line., Illuminated initial, f. 1r, 8-line, blue with white highlights and burnished gold on gold ground with stylized foliage in green and dark red with yellow highlights. Terminals ending in foliage serifs, red, green with yellow highlights, and gold balls with hairline extensions. Numerous pen and ink initials, 3-line, alternate red and bright blue with penwork designs of the other color extending along margin., and Binding: Fifteenth century, Italy. Parchment stays are adhered to inner and outer conjugate leaves of quires. Original wound sewing on three tawed skin, slit straps laid in channels on the outside of beech boards. The endbands, which are wanting, were sewn on tawed skin cores laid in grooves and nailed or held in place by the bosses; they were tied down through a tawed skin spine lining. Covered in sheepskin, originally brick red, with the surface now badly rubbed and shedding. Corner tongues. Blind-tooled with an X in concentric frames. Four leaf-shaped catches with three flowers on each on the lower board, one wanting; the upper board cut in for two kermes pink straps attached with star-headed nails. Five flower-shaped bosses on each board and the trace of a chain attachment at the tail of the lower one.
