- Abstract:
- Typescript photocopy mock-up with autograph corrections and annotations. The notes describe text sources and other information about the poems, and instructions for typesetting the manuscript. Also includes a front cover and additional pages of front matter created by Berrigan. The cover incorporates a clipped image from a newspaper and drawings in red and black pen; the front matter includes a black and white photograph of Berrigan by an unidentified photographer. The front cover is, according to a note by Berrigan on the item, "accidentally on back upside down".

- A scene on the frontier of the United States: a Native American (left) is shown scalping a dead British soldier. Another British soldier who has already been scalped is shown on the left edge of the design. In the center a second Native American, from whose rifle hangs a sign "Reward for 16 ... scalps" and in whose knife initials "G.R." have been etched, is shown handing a scalp to an obese British soldier (right). The speech balloon above the soldier 's head reads: "Bring me the scalps and the King our master will reward you"; from his pocket a strip of paper "Secret service money". - A scene before an American fort and palisade, perhaps depicting the indifference of Congress to the sufferings of American soldiers and the pro-slavery attitude of the Americans. A black man lies wounded in the foreground, surrounded by cannon balls. An officer gestures towards him with his hat, turning to a man on the left (possibly meant to represent a Congressman) who is wearing a fur coat, large feathered hat, and is smoking a pipe.
