- Abstract:
- An African woman known as 'Sartje' or the Hottentot Venus stands, left, in profile, a smoking pipe in her mouth and tall staff in her right hand. She has an enormous posterior and stands nude except for a pair of garters around her calves, a thin girdle round her waist, a beaded headdress and beaded necklace. Grenville stands behind her but looks back over his shoulder at her. Dressed in formal court dress, he too is depicted with an enormous posterior. Grenville says: Well I never expected Broad Bottoms from Africa! but one should never dispair! Mind Sherry dont let your Fireey nose touch the Venus for if theres any conbustibls about her we shall be blown up!!" In his pocket is a paper inscribed Chaselor [sic]. Between them, half-kneeling, Sheridan measures her bottom using a compass and answers: I shall be carefull your Lordship! but such a spanker it beats your Lordship's hollow."

- "The Prince of Wales stands full-face, in shirt and nightcap, his back to the bridal bed (right) in which the Princess lies with an expression of smiling expectancy. The Prince stands dismayed, with his right fingers to his mouth. On a table beside him (left) are two (?) mustard-pots and a bottle of 'Cantharides'. On the wall showing between the curtains of the bed is a picture of Leda and the swan. The bed is ornate with fringed curtains, and the Prince of Wales' feathers and motto at the head. - "Thomas Coke of Norfolk leads his bride through a pastoral landscape; he prances gaily along hat in hand, turning to look at her, and singing, Oh the Days when I was Young; in his left hand is a book: Coke upon Littleton [see British Museum Satires No. 14423]. She takes his left arm, holding back the gauze veil that floats from a bonnet trimmed with flowers and towering feathers. Her tight-waisted pelisse has a deep crimson border. She is gravely demure, but sings: Of all the Gay Lads that Dance on the Green, Old Tommys the Lad for Me. He looks younger than 67, she older than 18. Behind them (right) is a country church, before them a signpost pointing To the Breeding Park and To the Nursery.
