Engraved text on either side of the vignette lists some of the products offered: "Invoice heads, address cards, arms, crests, &c. &c."; and "Manufacturers patterns engraved and printed."

In a large room, the left side being a cobbler's workshop, the right a kitchen, a cobbler sits on a bench, before an open window, his hammer in hand. Behind him, on a table are dishes and food, and to the right a woman in an apron cooks with a large frying pan over the hearth grate. On the walls are displayed a number of tools, shoemaker's lasts, flatirons and tableware. An equestrian print with a portrait of the Duke of Cumberland on horseback hangs above the mantlepiece, and a bird in a cage hangs over the cobbler. A stairway is partially visible in the background, and a dog and cat sleep on the floor in the foreground

Abstract:
Trade card of Thomas Frederick Salter, a milliner who ran several shops in London during the late eighteenth century and first half of the nineteenth century. The shopfront of his longest-standing premises at 47 Charing Cross is depicted at the bottom of the card, its windows full of hats in various styles, mostly men's hats. At the top of the card a depiction of the process of hat making, showing a team of men working on different elements of the manufacturing process

She wears her hair in the monumental fashion, and her high heels are visible beneath the hem of a quilted skirt. To the left is a chair beneath a casement window, while a bird in a cage is suspended from the ceiling on the right

One horse is held by a youth, the farrier stands beside it arguing with the rider who stands with his whip under his arm. The second (right) stands behind, beside his horse's head (its body being cut off by the right margin of the print), looking gloomily down at his watch. The shed is an open stone building with a pent-house roof; a farrier's hand and arm are just visible within it. Behind is a church tower among trees, its clock pointing to 8 o'clock.
