Abstract:: A defense of the unpopular ministry of John Stuart, third Earl of Bute, Hogarth takes off from a print published in August 1762 "John Bull's House sett in Flames". He depicts a London street scene in which the half the buildlings are in flames as the political factions either stir the flames or are battling to extinguish them. The fire is the Seven Years' War and the houses, Germany and France; the two men clasping hands are France and Spain who had recently joined in the fight against England
