[Loss of text due to trimming of the label.], Harewood U.S.A. General Hospital,, Hospital Number, 17,989., L. Westfall, Private, Co. M, 24th N.Y. Cav., aged 17, admitted September 9th, 1864, suffering from a large and irritated cer of internal side of lower third of left leg. Amputation of left leg middle third circular. Condition of injured part at time of operation, gangrenous. Tibea exposed for four and denuded of periosteum. Hemorrhage from posterior bial artery to amount of four ounces, patient extremely and emaciated. Result unfavorable. Sloughing of ges of the integument covering the bone. Died, Feb. 1865, from exhaustion. Operation performed by Surg. R. B. Bontecou, U.S.V., L. Westfall., R. B. BONTECOU,, and Surgeon U.S. Vols., In charge.
