Harewood U.S.A. General Hospital., Hospital Number 20.360., Lewis J. Matson, Private, Co. K, 2nd N.Y. Cav., aged 21, was admitted to Harewood U.S.A. Gen'l Hospital, April 5th, 1865, suffering from gun shot wound of left leg, injuring knee joint, the extent of injury unknown. Amputation of left knee joint, antero-posterior flaps, on the field, April 1st, 1865, operator unknown. On admission, the condition of injured parts and constitutional state of patient were tolerably good. The parts became subsequently gangrenous, but by timely application of escharotics, and by a supporting treatment throughout, the patient is now doing well and in a fair way of recovery., Lewis J.
