"Fox (left) standing on English soil, and Hervey, Bishop of Deny (right), standing on land representing Ireland, embrace across a narrow piece of water inscribed 'St George's Channel'. The bishop resembles, and is probably copied from, the figure in British Museum Satires No. 6654, &c. His right hand holds up a burning brand, his left is on Fox's shoulder. Fox's profile is hidden behind that of the bishop; in his outstretched left hand is a burning brand held horizontally above burning buildings which are sketched on the right of the design (in Ireland). "The interior of a church. Archbishop Markham (left) delivering a charge to his clergy. He stands (left) within the chancel rails; in his left hand he holds up a flaming torch; in his right hand, which rests on a balustrade, he holds a birch-rod and a paper inscribed "Factious C--y--n. [Countrymen], A Lamentable Want of Sobriety, Foremost in mischief. This is no Gainfull Traffick - Nonresistance &c. Explain'd. Vide my Sermon. Charity Thinketh no Evil &c. A perfectly detestable Faction &c." On the right, in the body of the church, sit clergymen dressed in gown and bands, they listen with varying expressions. "George IV, crowned, and with orb and sceptre, sits on a coronation chair in Westminster Abbey (right). The Archbishop, well characterized, stands beside him, holding his mitre, his right hand on the chair. On the King's right hand stands Londonderry (Castlereagh) in Garter robes; other peers stand behind him. All watch the antics of Canning, dressed in parti-coloured clothes as a merry-andrew or buffoon. He kneels on the dais at the King's feet, arms flung wide; at his feet is a high-crowned hat with a peacock's feather; on the back of his tunic are the letters M P and P C. He declaims: The delight of the Nation at the Celebration of your Majesty's Coronation, the Exultation throughout the Creation exceeds all Imagination. the Expectation to which the Anticipation of this Consumation has given occasion is beyond Contemplation; we offer the Oblation of our Congratulation, without Hesitation or Trepidation; no Tribulation can effect a Cessation of the Sensation which pervades every Station; no Situation in whatever Deprivation will utter an Execration for the Association are in Preparation to effect an Extirpation of all Defamation. We hope the Expectation of a Decollation will produce Annihilation of all Deviation from strict Regulation; we submit to Subjugation without Hesitation, and we offer our Oration with gratefull Adoration upon this Jollification. "Satire on the attempt to establish an Anglican episcopacy in the American colonies. A group of angry colonists push away from a quayside a ship named “The Hilsborough” (a reference to Wills Hill, Earl of Hillsborough, Secretary of State who had ordered troops to Boston in June 1768) On the ship is a large carriage with its wheels and a crosier and mitre beside it. A bishop is climbing the rigging saying “Lord, now lettest thou thy Servant depart in Peace” (Archbishop Secker who died in August 1768 had left £1000 to help establish a bishopric in North America). The colonists are shown as advocates of liberty of conscience and religious non-conformism: one waves a large book lettered “Sydney on Government”, another brandishes “Locke”; “Calvins Works” has already been thrown towards the bishop; another colonist waves a flag, topped with the cap of liberty and emblazoned with the words “Liberty & Freedom of Conscience”; a Quaker holds “Barclay’s Apology” saying “No Lords Spiritual or Temporal in New England”. A monkey on the quay holds a stone as if intending to throw it at the bishop. A paper lies on the ground lettered “Shall they be obliged to maintain Bishops that cannot maintain themselves”. Wellington in civilian dress stands between two fat bishops wearing mitres pulling each by an ear as they vomit huge streams of gold coins into a large wooden tub that is labeled: Receptacle for the poor curates, repairs of churches, and support of paupers. A spout from the tub funnels coins into a smaller tub from which a man shovels coins into money bags which are labelled: For curates, Repairs of Churches, Support of Paupers. Two thin curates walk away with bags labelled 'Poor curates' as one says, "Thanks to the Powers that has relieved our Wants." From the cherub's horn blow the words: "See the conquering hero comes."
