Emil Burgermeister, mountaineer, who with his wife Fanny trekked through the national parks and forests of California, Oregon, and Washington from the 1910s through the early 1930s.

Geographic views identified after the Burgermeister's death by Oliver Kehrlein, a mountaineer-photographer.

In the forefront of the plate's image there is a large shield, with an flanchi on either side, featuring a spur in the middle. At the center, against an azure field, is gorged lion rampant. Above the shield, over a torse, are two arms clad in armor, holding a sort of spear. To the left of the shield is a knight's helmet. Below is the motto Ex Monte Alto. This design leans against a broken but leafed tree. In the background, at the end of a path, is a large three-story house in a somewhat wooded area.

"Mission Des Pères Blancs. - Ouargla [Wargla]. - Le bordj Chandez." This aerial view of a small town shows a large buidling with two slightly smaller outlying buidlings. There are gardens between to the two smaller buidlings. In the background there are much smaller homes among trees. It looks like this town is in the middle of the desert.

A Western man poses in front of a stone building with a lean-to type of roof. Two largewooden poles, possibly torches, stand in the front on either side of the door. Part of a building is seen on one side of the structure.
A rectangle design with insets of Sir Walter Raleigh in the upper left-hand corner, and a large two-story estate in the lower right. Throughout are leaves and flowers adding to the plate's design. In the lower left-hand corner is the motto We may hold converse with all forms of the many-sided man.
