"George III (left), seated in a chair, is being shown by the ghost of Chatham a procession of figures walking towards a pit (right) inscribed "Chaos". Chatham wears pseudo-classical draperies, a tie-wig crowned with a laurel wreath, and is surrounded by a glory of rays. He holds up a circular glass to the king, who looks through it with an expression of alarm. On the back of the king's chair is a crown surmounted by a weathercock which points to the South, probably to indicate that North's power is over, cf. BMSat 5659. Under his feet are torn county petitions, and an open book, "Lock on Government". The petitions are those of York, Westminster, Middlesex, Hampshire, Surrey. There is also the design of the façade of a building inscribed, "The Elevation of [a] Baby House". The leaders of the procession, who are on the brink of the pit, are the kings of France and Spain. A devil (right) with wings, horns, and a long barbed tail, points into the pit. Behind the two kings come North and Sandwich. North holds a rolled document inscribed "Taxes". Under his arm is a large money-bag with a gaping hole in it, by which is an open book or paper inscribed "New Way to pay old Debts, A Farce by Boreas" (Massinger's comedy had recently been revived at Drury Lane). On his right Sandwich walks with his arms folded, a paper under his arm is inscribed "Catches & Glees Mr Arne" (Arne (1710-78), the musical composer, is generally styled Dr; Sandwich was "the soul of the Catch Club", see BMSat 5342). From his pocket protrude papers, one inscribed "Greenwich Hospital", in allusion to the scandal caused by Captain Baillie's exposure of abuses there, see BMSat 5548. The other is inscribed "Love & Madness"; this is the title of a series of fictitious letters recently published purporting to be the correspondence of Hackman and Martha Ray, Sandwich's mistress, see BMSat 5540, &c, but really by Herbert Croft. See Walpole, 'Letters', xi. 139-40,13 Mar. 1780. Behind come Mansfield, in judge's wig and robes, and Bute in Highland dress, both with expressions of despair; they are being hurried along by a man with the face of a fiend who has seized Mansfield by the arm and Bute by the shoulders. "A pugilistic contest between George III (left) and Charles IV of Spain (right), standing waist-deep in the sea. Each wears a crown, but that of Charles falls from his head. George III says, "Another thump in the bread basket will do your business, Whiskerando!" Each has a backer: behind George is Neptune, holding his trident and crowned with sea-weed; he extends his left arm, saying, "Bravo! my Son, make him feel the dominion of the Seas is thine and shall be so for ever." That of Spain is the Pope wearing his robes and triple crown, and holding his crozier to which two keys are attached. Fame emerges from clouds above Neptune, blowing her trumpet and holding a laurel wreath above George III's head. The two kings and Neptune are nude."--British Museum online catalogue

"Duchess of Kent sits regally on the throne, holding the orb, and turning her head to watch Princess Victoria, who sits (left) on Prince Leopold's knee, holding the sceptre (in the form of a hand of Justice, cf. BM Satires No. 12247) and with the crown half-extinguishing her little head. He wears uniform, sits on a lower seat, but with his right foot on a footstool. He holds out twin cherries to the child, saying, 'Now we'll play at Bob Cherry--open your mouth'. On a table (left) are Sweet Meats and Sugar Candy, on the floor a (mature) doll. On the right, framed by pillars, is the Council Chamber. Wellington presides, in the royal chair, turning arrogantly to say: 'As president of the Council--who shall gainsay me--' [Bathurst was Lord President of the Council]. Behind him Grenadier Guards with fixed bayonets stand at attention. Inconspicuously at his right hand, and below the dais, sits William IV. The Queen takes the place of Lady Hamilton, in a similar pose but tearing her long black hair with more of rage and less of grief. She wears a bracelet on each arm, one inscribed 'BB' (for Bergami), the other 'MW' (for Wood). On the floor are gifts to the Queen. Her bare right foot rests on a large cake inscribed 'MW' on which are various emblems: a large crown, which she kicks over, busts of Wood, Bergami, Lieut. Hownam, and an unidentified person; also a goat, an ass, and a cat. This stands on a paper: 'Mr Trifle's Love to the Q[ueen]'. A huge round of beef is ticketed 'With Mr Suets Love to the Q--n'; with this is a roll of 'Cat's Meat'. A model of a pair of stays enclosed in a glass case stands on two papers: 'Glass-blower's Delight' and 'O stay my love my Cary dear'. A pair of breeches of metal is 'For Bat [Bergami] or Cat ad libitum from the Brazier[s]'.
