"A pretty young maidservant stands on a doorstep (right) while a man, Irish in appearance, gazes insinuatingly into her face as he fills her bowl with brick-dust from a jar. He has an ass which stands patiently, a double sack pannier-wise across his back and a second jar or measure standing on the sack. The profile of a shrewish old woman looks through the door at the couple, who are intent on each other. A dog barks at the girl. Behind is a street, the nearer houses tall the farther ones lower and gabled. At the doorway opposite a woman appears to be giving food to a poor woman and child. A man and woman lean from the attic windows of adjacent houses to converse. A little chimney-sweep emerges from a chimney, waving his brush."--British Museum online catalogue.
One the left, George III, represented as a donkey and wearing a fool's cap, sits asleep on his throne, his wrists manacled. Beneath his chair is a keg of gunpowder, and a sack containing crown and sceptre leans against the wall. Entering the doors on the right is Fox (depicted as a fox) followed by members of the new ministry, including from left to right, Wilkes, Richmond, Burke, Keppel, Shelburne (carrying another barrel of gunpowder), and Dunning.

"The Pope (left), on a small ass decked with trappings, faces John Bull, who stands as toll-keeper before a closed five-barred gate. From the other side of the gate a path leads to a country church on a hill, irradiated, and framed by the semicircular inscription: 'King - Church and Constitution'. The Pope, except that he wears a Papal crown instead of a mitre, resembles St. Patrick in caricature (where he often rides an ass). He is aquiline and bearded, holds a crosier, and wears a cope. His ass has blinkers, on which a satyr's mask is freely drawn. He leans towards John, saying, "Mr Bull, I have been to Paris - and seen all the fine sights there - I now want to have a peep at that little Church on the Hill - therefore let me pass the turnpike." John (right), a fat yokel, looks up at the Pope with a suspicious scowl, pointing over his shoulder at a large open book, 'Test Oath', which is on a book-rest attached to the gate-post. He says: "If you want to go through - pay the Toll, what the devil do you think I keep a turnpike gate for?" Behind the Pope stand four dissenting ministers anxiously watching the interview. A coach pulling up to the Post Station, the Cock Inn at left, on route to Brighton. The coach is pulling into the court yard, about to pass under a wooden gate bearing the inn's sign, while another coach stands at the inn door. People look down from the second story windows. A man waits at the mile marker in front of another building at right. In the foreground to left, a man with a wooden leg carries a small child on his back as he leads a donkey that carries a woman and two children, one of whom appears to be nursing, the other in a basket that hangs over the donkey. Their dog follows behind.

Charles Fox vomits into his turban as he sits cross-legged on a mangy-looking ass with Lord North's face. The ass is being led by a female figure symbolizing the City of London and followed by Burke, dressed as a Jesuit, barefoot and bald, reading the "Sinners Guide." On the right, the King is leaning out of an open window of the India House waving the cap of liberty on a stick. A paper with the words 'India Bill' crossed out, hangs from the window, below which the wall is inscribed, "Business done as usual." A large sun in a royal crown rises above the roof.
