On November 16, 1675, he writes, """"I first heard of a War begun in N. England. Our first report is that the French joine with the Indians...A famine feared in N. England & Virginia by reason of 2 unseasonable yeares...The merchants forbid any more goods to bee sent from Londont o N.E. All the country, prepareing for war."""" Taylor mentions the work of John Eliot among the Indians and quotes a letter from Increase Mather. The manuscript also includes accounts of crimes, such as the description of an apprentice stabbed with a rapier hidden in a cane, notes on """"prodigies,"""" signs, and portents, and the description of """"an unusuall distemper which was generally called a cold, November 1675.
