- Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of 12 sentimental acrostic poems on the writer's marriage and family members, and 1 incomplete verse on maternal love. The acrostic on the phrase "to Colonel James John Forbes Leith, of Whitehaught. By Williamina Helen Stewart. Forbes Leith of Whitehaugh" is annotated with Forbes Leith's date of birth and the date of their marriage. Ten other acrostics are based on the names of the children, including "William Forbes Leith, Second Son," and are annotated with the dates and places of birth of the children to whom the poems are written. The last acrostic is on Williamina's father and is an extensive acrostic on the phrase "Colonel James Stewart, of the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment, Second Son of Charles Stewart Esquire, of Shambelly, New Abbey, near Dumbries." and These poems are followed by a chart, in pencil in another hand, with an attendance list of names labeled "Footbal," and then by about 130 pages of notes in a shorthand, interspersed, and at times drawn over, with numerous crude drawings in pencil and other notes in a childish hand. The drawings are primarily combative scenes, including several of soldiers with guns, men punching each other, and a series of boxing images. The volume is signed numerous times by two young boys, Henry and Augustus Nightingale, with their address, 17 Victoria Villas, Richmond, Surrey.

- Manuscript poem of 328 lines, probably composed by Mark Lonsdale, of a rural "dance, or merry meeting." The author notes that in this "free sketch ad vivum of a Cumberland upshot (as taken twenty years ago) the manners and dialect of Great Orton, a village four miles west of Carlisle, are intended to form the ground of the picture." Several pages of notes discuss nicknames of characters and other aspects of the dialect, pronunciation, and spelling: "In the following notes, information is the first object, and next to that, entertainment; but without attemtping to gratify either the antiquarian or the satyrist." He concludes: "The author is proud to acknowledge that the scenes and characters herein described, are those of his native place."

- Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of notes on primarily biological, scientific, mathematical, and historical subjects, as well as recipes and humorous anecdotes and verses. The volume begins with notes on parrots, crocodiles, the oxfly, parallel rulers, the concept of proportion, and Niagara Falls, followed by a collection of tables of coins and their worth in cities and countries around the world, including England, Ireland, Flanders, Hamburg, Russia, Portugal, Persia, Japan, and Morocco. The volume also contains a list of symbols for chemicals; diagrammatic drawings of ovals, elipses, arches, and squares; humorous epigrams, anecdotes, epitaphs, and riddles; and several entries in shorthand; as well as historical notes on Catherine of Russia, Ostend; Brussels; and St. Petersburg. The last section of the volume is composed primarily of household and veterinarian recipes, including one to cure scabs in sheep; blacking for harnesses; to destroy fleas in dogs; and to cure foul water in cows. A recipe for stuffing birds is annotated, "Best. See my scrap book given by Mr Ashew a stuffer of birds." and The volume also contains several pen drawings, including one to illustrate a mite and another to illustrate parallel rulers.
