"John Bull stands full-face on the pavement outside a shop window, holding on his head a red cap (i.e., bonnet rouge) trimmed with fur of quasi-military, quasi-libertarian shape. He is the yokel with wrinkled gaiters ... with a tattered great-coat held together by a military belt. In his left hand is a ragged hat. He says, with a broad grin: "Wounds, when Master Billy sees I in a Red-Cap, how he will stare! - egad; I thinks I shall cook em at last. - well if I could but once get a Cockade to my Red Cap, & a bit of a Gun - why, I thinks I should make a good stockey Soldier!" The shop is that of 'Billy-Black-Soul [Pitt], Hatter, & Sword-cutler \ Licenced to deal in Hats and Swords.' Above the door (right) are the royal arms and 'Stamp-Office' (the tax on hats being levied by a stamp). A fashionably dressed woman sits (left) in profile, in an upright chair, while a carriage waits for her as seen through the window of the well-appointed sitting room. Her loose dress, high to the neck, has two embroidered slits to reveal the breasts. A pretty, buxom nurse holds out an infant, who eagerly sucks the breast thus conveniently laid bare. She wears a turban with two erect feathers, and short sleeves; her gloved right hand holds a closed fan. On the wall behind her is a large picture, 'Maternal Love': a seated woman suckles an infant. Through a high sash-window is seen a corner of the waiting coach, a footman holding open the door, a fat coachman on the box. The coach, hammer-cloth, and the lady's chair are decorated with a baron's coronet. A patterned carpet covers the floor.

The procession is preceded on the extreme right by Hall the apothecary, one of Fox's chief supporters in Westminster, who holds the abortive 'Regency Bill'. A medical instrument protrudes from his coat-pocket; he is 'Apozem, Clerk, & Apothecary'. ... After him in priest's robes and wearing a Jesuit's biretta walks Burke, 'Ignatius Loyola' (cf. BMSat 6026), holding an 'Ode upon his Majesty Recovery'. ... The coffin is carried on the shoulders of six men with bulls' heads, hoofs, and tails, wearing coronets and shedding tears; three only are depicted, though the hoofs of the three on the left side of the coffin are indicated; it is 'The Body of the deceased supported by six Irish Bulls'.
