In Latin., Watermark: var. Briquet 6654 (?)., Script: Copied by one hand in Humanistica Cursiva Libraria under some Gothic influence (occasionally uncial d)., Pale red headings and explicit formulas. The scribe wrote guide-letters but the initials (height: 2 lines) are wanting., and Binding: Fifteenth century. Italian brown morocco over wooden boards bevelled at the inside, blind-tooled with rope interlace and other tools, with some gold. Remnants of two brass clasps attached to the rear cover. Rebacked. On the spine a paper label with the handwritten title "Historia di Publio [sic] Candido". Parchment pastedowns. On the yellow-coloured fore-edge the title "P. Candid*" is inscribed.

The paper is now dark brown and brittle (causing loss of text in the lower margins of pp. 1-6). For reasons of conservation the bifolios have now been cut into singletons and these have been encapsulated in transparent Mylar sleeves united in an album., and Binding: Eighteenth century. Marbled brown leather over pasteboard, each cover decorated with a gold-tooled floral border and gold-tooled doublure margin; gold-tooled spine with paper label containing the hand-written number "24068". Two-compartment a is rarely used; note the thorn-shape of y (except on line 1, where the letter has the normal shape), and the semicircular abbreviation stroke with a dot in its centre., No decoration., The lower section of the roll now covers one line of text of the upper section, but originally the two sections were attached to each other the other way and no text was covered., and The top end of the roll is cut in the form of a pointed arch and a cord is inserted for tying up the roll.

In Latin., Script: Copied by a single hand writing a rapid Humanistica Semitextualis Libraria. The first line of the Prologue and the first word or second letter of the three Books are written in Capitalis., Rather carelessly written headings in purplish red ink, added posteriously at the beginning of the Prologue and of each Book, not corresponding to the instructions for the rubricator written in the margins by the scribe (no such instruction is visible on f. 3r). White vinestem initial (5 lines) and border in the same style in the upper and inner margins at the head of the Prologue (f. 3r). The Books open with 2-3-line plain initials (Capitalis) in blue; a similar 2-line initial was planned (and executed) at the beginning of what would be chapter 3 (“Ambitum”, f. 4v), but this practice was afterwards abandoned. Guide letters for the initials in the margin., and Binding: ca. 1500, Italy. Brown goatskin over wooden boards, both covers blind-tooled with frame and centre-piece, the latter in the shape of a cross composed of small rhomboid stamps showing some remnants of gold. Remnants of one clasp attached to the front cover, with a brass catch fixed with three nails to the rear cover.

In art. 3 the chapters normally open with a 2-line (rarely 3-line) flourished initial with penwork extensions in the left margin or in the intercolumnar space, alternately red with purple or blue penwork and blue with red penwork; the first lemma of each letter opens with a 3- or 4-line flourished initial filled with foliage and with more developed marginal extensions. The text opens on f. 5v with a 5-line dentelle initial with green and blue background heightened with gold and white, followed by 5 lines of text mostly in majuscules. The decoration of art. 7 is similar to that of art. 3 but less carefully executed., and Binding: Eighteenth century (?).
