Abstract:: "Turkish soldiers, scattered over a wide parade-ground, are being instructed in squads, groups, and as individuals, by French officers. In the foreground a Turkish potentate, the Sultan or perhaps the Grand Vizier, leans against the stump of a tree, turning his head in profile to the left to watch the soldiers. At his feet (left) kneels a Black enslaved person who is filling a long pipe; beside him a fire burns on a tiny tripod. On the right a Frenchman pulls the long moustache of a Turk, striking him with his cane. Next, three awkward Turks are being taught musket drill. On the left a Turk threatens an officer, drawing his sabre. In the middle distance a Frenchman puts his hand on the projecting stomach of an obese Turk, to make his attitude more soldierly. In the background are a marching squad (left) and a firing squad (right) and, beyond, an officer is attacked by three Turks with sabres raised to strike. Behind (left) is a Turkish fort. The officers are not caricatured nor is their dress exaggerated. The Turks wear baggy trousers with either a fez or a turban; all have long moustaches."--British Museum online catague
Description:: Title engraved below image, in two lines., Sheet trimmed within plate mark., Richard Bull (1725-1806) attritbutes the print to Isaac Landmann of Woolwich on his undated copy in an album held in the British Museum. See Museum number: 1931,0413.185., This image was first published in Vienna by Hieronymus Löschenkohl and then engraved once again by Johann Martin Will Augsburg in 1783., Watermark: fleur-de-lis on crowned shield with monogram CP at the bottom and countermark Patoh., and Ms. annotation in contemporary hand, numbered '64'.

Abstract:: A crowd of visitors on the right are shown approaching the military camps at Coxheath indicated on the left with tents and cannon. The crowd, preceded by a barking dog, is chiefly comprised of women, led by a prostitute in pseudo-military garb who is carried on the shoulders of a soldier. Behind her a young woman leads a fat military officer wearing a large wig and carrying his sword in his hand. Following are two elderly women, one with a large muff, the other holding crutches and seated in a wheelbarrow pushed by an old man. Other women and soldiers make up the crowd. In the left foreground are three cannons, inscribed "9 P.", "9 Pounder", and "G.R. 12", the latter being admired by several women

Abstract:: "One of a set of four, and a companion print to British Museum Satires No. 7177. A party of unsoldierly Dutch ragamuffins practises firing at the figure of a Prussian soldier (right) chalked on a high stone wall. They stand on the brink of a ditch close to the wall and are commanded by a man in civilian dress holding a pike, evidently a member of a Free Corps, who is directing the military training of the others. One man stands up to his knees in water; frogs are climbing up him. Other frogs stand on the bank holding weapons. A crowd of ruffians (left) watch the firing, some have muskets, one a blunderbuss, one blows a trumpet, another waves his hat; all exult at the success of their arms against the symbol of the Prussian army, at which a dog barks and ducks quack. The high stone wall has a ruinous gap which is filled with a windmill."--British Museum online catalogue

Abstract:: A military-drill aid, dissected into twelve panels, providing a step-by-step pictorial guide to basic infantry exercises 'as practised by His Majesty's Army'. The whole consists of two separate evolutions: 'Manual Exercise' in eight steps, which involves the fixing and use of bayonets but with no firing or reloading; and 'Platoon Exercise' in ten steps, including the firing of muskets and subsequent reloading. Each dissected panel features two steps, with the three remaining panels containing the 'Position of an Officer' and '3 Ranks. Make Ready', the decorated title vignette, and ''3 Ranks. Present - Fire' alongside a detailed schematic of a musket, in both assembled and disassembled forms. Engraved after the work of English artist and printmaker Robert Dighton, this guide was issued at the beginning of the most acute stage of the first Napoleonic invasion scare and sold folded in a slipcase

Abstract:: "Mounted yokels, riding right to left, make havoc in a farm-yard. One only wears uniform; he shouts at them from the right, with upraised hand. A man riding a horse with blinkers fires a blunderbuss, shutting his eyes; he damages a pigeon-house and kills pigeons. He is riding up to a well in which a terrified man has sought shelter, clutching the rope and looking over the top. Two other inexpert horsemen use clubs, one a flail, one a pitchfork. A witch-like old woman holding a broom lies on her back; her basket of cocks and hens has been overturned and the birds escape. A bull and a bulldog face each other belligerently.
