"Two timorous duellists face each other at close quarters in a saw-pit, trembling and dropping their weapons, namely pistol and blunderbuss; each has a heap of weapons at his feet: sabres, rapier, pistol, more blunderbusses. The hair of both rises on their heads. One (left) is in uniform, the other (right), who is smaller, wears fashionable civilian dress with tasselled Hessian boots. A scroll extends above their heads inscribed: 'Did you mean to Offend me? indeed Sir not I.--indeed Sir I'm very glad on't!!!' A spectator (right) looks over the edge of the pit, holding a bowl from which he blows soap bubbles, which float over the head of the civilian. The bubble in the pipe is inscribed 'Puff', suggesting a publicity campaign."--British Museum online catalogue

Admiral Rodney is depicted vigorously attacking a large dragon which clutches his leg. The dragon's wings are decorated with fleur-de-lys and it breathes fire and frogs (alluding to Rodney's 1782 victory over the French fleet, a triumph which was not well-received by the Ministry). On the left Charles James Fox attempts to stay Rodney, offering him a baron's coronet and saying "... you have done enough, I will now make a Lord of you, and you shall have the happiness of never being heard of again."

"Two men sit beside a blazing fire in a well-furnished room, overcome by drink, and fast asleep. One, a stout officer in regimentals, wearing a cocked hat, seated in an arm-chair (right), has thrust his wooden leg into the fire, where it is burning. The ashes of his pipe fall on to the tail of a dog asleep under his chair. His companion sits (left) supporting his head on his elbow, which rests on a round table on which are a punchbowl, glasses, and a candle, in which his wig is burning. "General Gunning stands in profile to the right before the door of his house, a bludgeon in his hand, driving before him his wife and daughter both scantily clad, but the latter with feathers in her hair. On the left is a military officer (Bowen) sheathing a sword in a broken sheath; Mrs. Bowen stands behind him. From General Gunning's pocket protrude papers: 'aff. by Mr B' and 'Am by Mr B.' He says "Now I shall save a 1000 a year in Housekeeping & keep as many - [whores] as I like." Miss Gunning says "Oh thus to be persecuted & rob'd of - all for Lorn." Mrs. Gunning says "Oh! my Darling my Angel fear not the machinations of these Combind plotters while you have a Mothers arms to support you". She points towards a woman's face at a window (? or in a picture) over which is etched: 'Here my Inosent shall you find a parants Care to soothe your troubles & every honest means pursued to discover those base dark assas[sins]'. [3] A young woman points to her fat old husband asleep in a chair, saying to a barrister, "Take care or you'll wake him". He says: "Remember my dear Madam how well I pleaded your last cause". [4] A fashionably dressed doctor holds the pulse of a young woman who sits beside him on a sofa. The husband watches with suspicion. "Satire on fashion showing a crowd of people in St James's Park in front of Buckingham House. In the centre is a short, fat women wearing a large hooped skirt and saque, a lace cap and black lace mittens, and carrying a closed fan. On the left a young country gentleman, wearing a quilted waistcoat and holding a riding whip, is arm in arm with fashionably dressed man who seems to be showing him the promenade, they both wear breeches that end above the knee and high-heeled shoes with large tongues; the latter leers at a young woman, apparently a prostitute, wearing a straw hat with a soft brim who lifts her huge hooped skirt to reveal her ankle. She is walking with another young woman wearing a dark cloak with a hood; she wears a small cap and her hair is dressed in ringlets. In the centre, behind the fat woman, two men embrace, one of whom wears an eye patch. Another young woman, dressed in a similar fashion to the fat woman, stands to her right; behind her is another young woman wearing a hat with a very large brim. Next are two more young men,wearing large tricorne hats, tight coats the skirts of which open out in pleats below the waist, and high-heeled shoes one apparently pointing out matters of interest to the other who is possibly a young officer as he wears a sword and a cockade in his hat; his hair or wig is dressed in a large bag-wig.
