"The interior of an apothecary's room: jars on shelves; a counter with drawers, pestle and mortar, flasks, &c. A bust of Galen stands on the lintel of the door (right). An alarmed undergraduate in cap and gown stands clasping his stomach. The doctor faces him triumphantly, with raised arms and holding a pill-box. His man, who wears an apron, walks off with a large box inscribed 'Anti-Fibbibus'. The (prose) inscription below the title relates that a 'College Wag' called on a 'travelling Empiric' and asked to be cured of a bad memory, and a habit of lying. He is cured by the 'gilded pill called - Pillula Memoria - Anti Fibbibus!!' "Five elderly, old-fashioned doctors stand in consultation in a row behind Napoleon (r.), who vomits, saying, "My Dear Doctors! those sacre Anglois have play'd the Devil vun [?] my constitution pray tell me what is the matter with me, I felt the first symptoms when I told Genl Macke I wanted ships, collonies & commerce - Oh! dear - Oh dear! I shall want more ships now; this is a cursed sensation - O I am very qualmish." He drops an 'Extraordinary Gazette 19 Sail of the Line taken by Ld Nelson'. He stands in profile to the right. with flexed knees. The doctor behind him pulls down his breeches and peers towards him; he says: "Begar me have found it out - your heart be in your breeches." The next doctor exclaims: "A desperate case"; the third says: "I recommend bleeding". The two on the extreme left. consult together; one says: "Irrecoverable". Abstract:
Charles Fox, in strait jacket, with unruly hair and a wild look on his face, is examined by Dr. Monro, the physician to Bedlam, who looks at him through a quizzing glass. Fox confesses that his troubles come from loosing his place, i.e., the fall of the Fox-North Coalition, while Dr. Monro pronounces him an incurable.
