After departments were formed, a number of young women physicians, several of whom graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School, were hired to work as assistants at Yale in the 1920s. Dorothea Moore served as an assistant in Pediatrics in 1928-1929. She had received her M.D. from Johns Hopkins in 1924.

This oil portrait hangs in entrance lobby of Brady Memorial Laboratory. Louise Eisenhardt was the curator of the Cushing Brain Tumor Registry and editor of Journal of Neurosurgery. The scan was made from a negative rather than a print.

Louise Farnam entered YSM in 1916 and graduated in 1920, becoming one of the two first women to graduate from YSM. The photo was taken from a poster from an exhibit on her and other early women by Susan Baserga at the Medical Library.
