Abstract: In an outdoor setting, a young man in court dress, perhaps the Prince of Wales, is presented with a large sheet signed "Tax on receipts" by Lord Cavendish who turns away from a group of distressed tradesmen protesting the new tax. They represent, from right to left, a shoemaker, an alderman, a butcher, and, in the person of 'Sir' Jeffery Dunstan, a used wig seller
