Papers include correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed material by or relating to Anne Waldman dating from the late 1960s and early 1970s, during which time Brownstein and Waldman were living in New York and Waldman was directing the Poetry Project at St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery. The correspondence consists of two autograph letters to Waldman, including one letter from Brownstein, and one letter from Waldman to "Mr. Ballou," accompanying a corrected and annotated draft of Brownstein's 3 American Tantrums pasted over the printed version of Bun, published by Angel Hair Books, by Ron Padgett and Tom Clark (1968). In addition to the draft of Brownstein's 3 American Tantrums, there are several drafts of poems by Waldman, including one book, entitled Boat Rides, presented to Brownstein in 1971. A scrapbook, also presented to Brownstein in 1971, includes a corrected typescript draft of the poem "The Contemplative Life," as well as manuscript notes, photographs, and printed ephemera. Other materials include printed ephemera and one hand-colored photograph of Joe Brainard, Bill Berkson, and Lewis Warsh
