Description: Samuel Seymour was an engraver of portraits in Philadelphia, 1797-1822. He was appointed artist of Major Long's expedition which traveled up the Missouri to Council Bluffs and then along the Platte to the Rocky Mountains and returned by the Arkansas and Red Rivers, 1819-20.
