Manuscripts connected with the British Secret Service during George Aust's tenure as Under Secretary of State. In addition to a detailed cryptographic key, documents include receipts for large sums given by Aust to Messrs. Thomas Coutts on Lord Grenville's account; lists of recipients of Secret Service funds, including the duc de Harcourt and William Wickham; and a copy of a letter and an affadavit addressed to the Office for Auditing the Public Account

George Aust (1740-1829) served as Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in Great Britain from 1790 to 1796. He later became Secretary and Registrar of Chelsea Royal Hospital. He married Sarah (Maeve) Murray, who wrote two successful guidebooks to Scotland, in 1802.
