Incipit: "Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm, wa-bi-hi nastaʻīn. Qāla Abū Muḥammad ʻAbd Allāh ibn Muslim ibn Qutaybah, raḥimahu Allāh taʻālá: Ammā baʻda ḥamd Allāh bi-jamīʻ maḥāmidihi, wa-al-thanāʼ ʻalayhi bimā huwa ahluhu, wa-al-ṣalāh ʻalá Rasūlihi al-Muṣṭafá wa-ālihi, fa-innī raʼaytu akthara ahl zamāninā hādhā ʻan sabīl al-adab nākibīn, wa-min ismihi mutaṭayyirīn wa-li-ahlihi kārihīn. Ammā al-nāshiʼ minhum fa-rāghib ʻan al-taʻlīm ..."
