Abstract: Manuscript commonplace book with sections treating geometry, trigonometry, surveying, clock making, violin making, and gilding, as well as receipts for varnish, medicines, "secret writing" and inks, a number of conjuring tricks and slights of hand, and methods of hunting, painting, and casting horoscopes. The last few pages, in other hands, contain a register of births and deaths in the Clough family from 1770 through 1840
