At the top left corner of the front cover a paper label with the 16th-17th century inscription in Humanistica Cursiva: "Mathematicorum. Anonymi arithmetica manu scripta linguae Italicae". On the spine is written in the same type of script "Aritmetica" and, at the top, the letter "A".

Several 5- and 4-line initials. Two-line initials with simple flourishing throughout, alternating in blue and red. Red and blue paragraph marks. Rubrication., Layout: written in 2 columns of 57 lines., Binding: contemporary leather binding over original wooden boards. Rebacked in July 1930 by A. Maltby & Son, Oxford. Traces of marks from clasps and of small metal bosses on front and edges of boards (few remaining). - Description:
- In Latin., Script: Written by a single scribe in Southern Gothica Textualis Libraria which, however, differs from Rotunda by the absence of Textus Praescissus features. A few rubrics are added in Gothica Cursiva, e.g. ff. 63v and 64v. Instructions for the rubricator are written in thin Gothica Cursiva Currens in the lower margins, mostly lost due to trimming., Headings in red. Alternately red and blue paragraph marks. The decoration consists of (1) alternately red and blue flourished initials, 2 lines; (2) flourished litterae duplices, 3-5 lines, at the opening of the Distinctiones; they have marginal extensions ("J-staves") in pen and ink over the full height of the text area; (3) on f. 4r a damaged foliate initial on a gold, red and blue background, containing a hybrid, with floral extensions featuring a hybrid head and a hybrid. On f. 37r there is a coarse pen and ink drawing of a sword in the margin, probably related to a Hermogenes quotation in the text about murder., and Binding: Seventeenth century. Sprinkled brown leather over cardboard, the covers simply decorated with blind fillets. Spine with five raised bands and two gold-tooled red leather title-labels with the inscriptions "MS. VALLENS. COMMUNILOQ." and "TRACT. DE RE PUBLICA." Red edges. The spine was reinforced by means of two strips of parchment from an English archival document (ca. 1500) in which the names William Holborn, Robert Ball "nuper de Letheringham" and others appear.

- In Greek and Latin., Watermarks, in gutter: similar in general design to Briquet Couronne 4659; two unidentified serpents., Script: Latin words written in humanistic bookhand; Greek words in a neat Greek minuscule., First initial for each letter of the Roman alphabet: plain red or blue majuscules, 4- to 2-line. On recto, all Latin words begin with bright blue 1-line initials, on verso all begin with bright red; color scheme reverses on f. 7v to end. Art. 2, f. 1r, in pale red., and Binding: Sixteenth century, Italy (Italo-Greek?). Own endleaves. Unusual sewing through three spine linings, the central one paper. An endband of two joined lines of chain stitching is sewn on a largely exposed leather core. The flush paste boards are held on by the cloth spine linings which extend on either side of them and are glued to them. Covered in brown goatskin with rope interlace crosses and random small tools. Traces of four ribbon ties.

Telesphorus draws on and interprets escatological treatises by such authors as Joachim de Fiore and Johannes de Rupescissa, and predicts that the Italian antipope will be killed in Perugia in 1393, following which the crown of the Holy Roman Empire will be given to France
