Abstract:
Three prints have inscription by Corbin to Langston Hughes; formerly formed part of the Langston Hughes bequest.
Description:
Inscription on recto: For Langston Hughes -- Few are the moments like these ...Sincerely, Clayton Corbin. and Stamp on verso: Photograph by Carl Van Vechten / 146 Central Park West / Cannot be reproduced without permission.
Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and Cormorant boats on the Min River, Foochow, China. Three narrow boats float on the Min River in Foochow [now Fuzhou], China. On each boat a man stands in the center with a long pole and Cormorants sit in a line along the boats.
Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive., Captions for this set of lantern slides from the papers of Oliver and Jennie Logan, American Presbyterian missionaries in Hunan, were provided by their daughter Elsa., and The cormorant fleet which operated in our river and provided fish for the owners of the sampans. Each bird knew his own boat, and gave up the fish he caught. A ring around his neck prevented the bird from swallowing any but the smallest fish, which were his reward for his work.
