"Two whole length figures. A woman (left) walks away from the man but looks round over her left shoulder. She wears a high conical cap trimmed with lace and ribbons, a hooded cloak over a voluminous skirt ornately embroidered at the hem. The man in profile to the left walks after her. His left hand holds a tasselled cane which rests on his shoulder, his right is thrust under his waistcoat. Abstract:
A crowd of visitors on the right are shown approaching the military camps at Coxheath indicated on the left with tents and cannon. The crowd, preceded by a barking dog, is chiefly comprised of women, led by a prostitute in pseudo-military garb who is carried on the shoulders of a soldier. Behind her a young woman leads a fat military officer wearing a large wig and carrying his sword in his hand. Following are two elderly women, one with a large muff, the other holding crutches and seated in a wheelbarrow pushed by an old man. Other women and soldiers make up the crowd. In the left foreground are three cannons, inscribed "9 P.", "9 Pounder", and "G.R. 12", the latter being admired by several women

"A young military officer wearing a gorget stands at the door of a house, his left hand on the knocker, looking up at two courtesans who lean out of a sash-window over the door. He puts a coin into the hat of a disabled sailor who stands behind him, supported on crutches, his forehead bandaged. Behind the sailor are two itinerant musicians: a man carrying a rectangular box, and a woman turning the handle of a mechanical organ which is slung round her neck, her mouth is open as if singing. The door of the house is ornamented with a carved wooden pediment, and bears a plate "Mrs Mitchel". The knocker has a lion's head. Only the corner of the house appears, the street is "Cleveland Row". A brick wall extends from the house to the left, over it appear trees, and a notice-board inscribed "Men Traps are laid here: every Night also ...." An obese Charles Fox with a beard, dressed as Falstaff, stands against the wall of a building inscribed, "Gt. Ormond Street," holding on his shoulders the Prince of Wales. The Prince reaches up with an open sack to receive the Great Seal from a man standing in the window, possibly Richard Fitzpatrick. Watching the scene are a courtesan and Mrs. Robinson (Perdita), whose hat is inscribed, "Perditi," an allusion to the status of both women, as well as to Fox's unenviable political situation
