A copy in reverse of William Hogarth's Plate 5 of A harlot's progress: In a squalid room Moll Hackabout, wrapped in a sheet, is dying while two doctors (Richard Rock and Jean Misaubin) argue over their remedies. Her serving-woman reaches out to them in alarm to get their attention for the invalid, while another woman rifles through Moll's portmanteau (with her initials as in Plate 1). A small boy knelling next to Moll's chair scratches his head as he turns a joint of meat roasting in front of the fire while a pot overflows on the grate. An over-turned table with an advertisement "Practical scheme ... 'Anodyne" litters the floor in the foreground

A copy in reverse of William Hogarth's Plate 6 of A harlot's progress: A dilapidated room with Moll Hackabout's friends, mostly prostitutes, gathered around her open coffin, several of them weeping; one young woman stands with her back to the scene as she gazes at herself in the mirror. On the right, a clergyman spills his brandy as he surreptitiously gropes beneath a woman's skirt; Moll's serving woman, standing at the coffin with a wine bottle and glass in hand scowls at the pair. Under the window and to the left, the undertaker flirts with a pretty young prostitute who picks a handkerchief from his pocket. In the foreground Moll's small son plays with a spinning top. Sprigs of yew (rosemary?) decorate her coffin; a plate of yew rests on the floor at the parson's feet, another spring at her son's feet

Abstract:
"Napoleon, scarcely caricatured, stands in the centre of the design, pointing with left forefinger to a pile of cannon-balls in the right foreground inscribed 'Forse, meat Balls for the Lads of Paris'. Just behind him, and emerging from clouds, stand the Devil (left) and Death (right), directing his actions. Napoleon is flanked by two much taller supporters: an Italian brigand holding up a pole inscribed 'Plunder' to which a limp purse is tied, and with a pistol in his left hand. On the right is a savage dishevelled butcher, holding up a knife, with a noose in the right hand. Both wear belted tunics. These three are identified by an inscription below the design: 'Capt of Starved Banditty from the Alps, Ad Camp,, The Aghast Emperor & his two Friends & Pillars of the State,, Butcher from Elba. Generalissimo'. All are dominated by a larger figure, emerging from clouds above Napoleon's head, which has a scaly body and streaming hair, styled 'Deamon of War Presideing over the Tyrant'. His extended right hand points to the words 'Boundless Ambition' in large letters on a background of fire and lightning of which he is the centre. In his left hand is the shaft of a pennant inscribed: 'We, Come, to Redres:s Grievances'. Dark clouds and lightning extend left and right over ranks of soldiers in the middle distance who watch Napoleon. Those on the right are a ragged, dilapidated, and motley crew, some with pitchforks; they shout "Vive la Empre . . . [sic]" and "Vive la Boun. . . ." Those on the left are perhaps intended for National Guards (cf. British Museum Satires No. 12531)."--British Museum online catalogue

On the right, a lady (Mrs. Catherine Macaulay) with an aquiline profile and wearing a morning gown, sits at a dressing-table; she is dipping a brush into a pot marked 'Rouge', other toilet implements and a looking-glass on the table. Her hair is in a grotesquely caricatured erection, with side curls, intended to ridicule the fashions of the day; on the top of it is a hearse drawn by six horses, decorated with enormous ostrich-feathers. Similar feathers adorn the heads of the horses. On the left behind the lady, a skeleton stands at a rectangular table grasping with both hands an hour-glass whose sands have run into the lower glass out the bottom onto the table. On the table there is also a knife. The base of the skeleton's spine is transfixed by a large arrow. On the wall behind the lady's dressing-table is a portrait bust of a clergyman, in profile to the right (Dr. Wilson).
