- In Latin., Script: the manuscript proper (artt. 4-11), is copied by two hands very close to each other: A copied ff. 1r-151r (upper half), 151v-155r, and 156v in Gothica Semitextualis Libraria; B copied ff. 151r (lower half) and 155v-156r. Art. 1 is copied by a 15th century hand using deviant spellings. Art. 2 is in 16th century Humanistica Cursiva. Art. 3 (the endleaves) is in large Carolingian handwriting., Decoration: Red headings and stroking of majuscules; red line-fillers for verses; red or blue paragraph marks. The text copied by hand B as well as the additional artt. 1 and 2 are undecorated. Art. 3 (the endleaves) has red heading and red stroking., and Binding: contemporary, undecorated white leather (deerskin?) over wooden boards, sewn onto three split leather thongs. The remains of a leather strap are attached to the front board and closes over a pin (lost) in the center of the rear board.

- In Latin., Script: With the exception of f. 1r apparently copied by one hand, writing Southern Gothica Semitextualis Libraria; f. 1r, in the same type of script, is by another more rapid hand and is perhaps palimpsest., Headings in red added afterwards, with instructions for the rubricator in Gothica Cursiva in the margins (the headings are missing from f. 91r onwards). Red plain initials, 2-3 lines, sometimes with simple flourishing. A few pointing hands and Nota-marks., and Binding: Original deerskin over bevelled wooden boards. On each cover four small brass bosses. Four similar bosses at the four corners of the spine and at the attachment of a white leather strap attached to the front cover and clutching with a decorated brass piece over a pin in the rear cover. The front paste-down is a fragment of a 14th-century Latin grammatical treatise in two columns.

- In Latin., Script: Apparently four scribes: A, Iohannes de Carnago, is the main scribe and copied ff. 1r-260v (with the exception of 8 lines at the bottom) in Gothico-Humanistica Semitextualis Libraria; B copied from the bottom lines of f. 260v to f. 270v, in Humanistica Textualis Libraria; C copied ff. 271r-275v in Gothico-Humanistica Textualis Libraria; and D copied ff. 276r-304v in Gothico-Humanistica Semitextualis Libraria., Headings in red. Red heightening (stroking) of the majuscules. 2-3-line flourished initials (with guide letters) in red with penwork varying from pale red to purple. A large (10 lines) decorated flourished initial in red, with developed purple penwork ("R" instead of "D") in littera duplex style on f. 229v. Two Gothic historiated initials on gold background with floral marginal extensions: f. 1r: St. Jerome with lion and boy holding open a book (damaged); f. 25v: a monk copying., and Binding: Sixteenth century. Brown leather over cardboard boards, the covers blind-tooled with a triple fillet lozenge inside a floral roll frame, the center and the corners gold-tooled with two different floral tools. Spine with four raised bands and remnants of gold-tooled lilies in the compartments. Edges painted blue. Marks of two pairs of ties.

In lower border wreathed medallion within narrow gold bands, supported by two haloed angels, one dressed in green, the other in red; central shield of medallion blank. Included in border are a standing and a seated putto. Historiated initial, 6-line, gold, with a portrait of St. Ambrose seated at a lectern and reading, against a blue sky. 8 illuminated initials, 5-line, in gold against blue, green and red grounds with white dots and white vine-stem ornament extending into the margins to form partial borders.
