Manuscript on paper in a single Italic hand of a treatise on the compatibility of the science of medicine with belief in Christianity and a vindication of Galen against four traditional attacks on him, including the "calumnies" that Galen favored reason over religion and that he scoffed at both Judaism and Christianity. Trippe frequently alludes to and quotes other medical and scientific authors in developing his argument, including Hippocrates, Dioscorides, Nicander, Avicenna, and his contemporaries Antonio Guainerio, Jean Fernel, Pietro Andreas Mattioli, and Leonhard Fuchs, as well as the humanist thinkers Henry Cornelius Agrippa, Guillaume Bude, and Ramus (Pierre de la Ramee).
Text prefaced (p. 5-7) by a dedicatory epistle to Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, who was Chancellor of Oxford and from whom Trippe was soliciting recommendation for appointment as Physician of Corpus Christi
